For their new production in Fall 2019, Sandra Chatterjee and Amahl Khouri are looking for three

dancers, in particular

• Professional dancers/ performers with experience in contemporary work,

• Preferably with professional level dance training in ‘non-western’ dance forms,

• BPoC, queer, trans, inter*, genderqueer, and non-binary performers are explicitly invited to

apply.

About „no smell in outer space“

Ultimately, the piece is about the poetics of smell. What are the unexpected, secret metaphysics and stories of scent? With that aesthetic and these questions in mind, we will uncover smells and fragrances on several levels: in terms of their affective qualities and connection to emotion, in terms of creating separation/connection in everyday life (i.e. differences in class/cultural and spiritual practices/gender/race) and traditions of fragrance production and scent-making in Europe (Germany/France); India and Oman. It will be a collaboration between choreography and documentary theater. The production is aiming at a subtle, intimate and sensual dialogue with the audience around the theme of smells and odours: the boundaries between scent and art in their relation to constructions such as gender, politics and philosophy as well as olfactory and kinesthetic perceptions.

We are going to make a first selection based on this material and invite the selected performers for a personal meeting/Skype conversation. Possible dates for a meeting with Sandra and Amahl in Berlin will be at the end of May / beginning of June. Otherwise meetings in Berlin will be with Amahl; meetings with Sandra in Munich.

• Rehearsal period: all of September 2019 (rehearsals planned in Berlin and / or Munich?)

• Premiere: 04. – 06. October 2019 at HochX München

• Additional performances in the process of being planned at HochX and in Berlin in winter / spring 2020
