Ashram – Arko Mukhaerjee and Kanishka Sarkar (Music) and Sandra Chatterjee (Dance)
SMELLS OF COEXISTENCE ii is a performance with live music and dance. The sound of Ashram is a unique blend of live electronica, loops, grooves and samples with songs and melodies ranging from mysticism to folklore. The performance brings together songs from all continents, using the allegory of scents to tell e stories of life, migration, loss, resistance and coexistence. The performance links movement to smells, combining classical Indian dance with various dance forms from contemporary to Polynesian.
The installation, in the foyer consists of a selection of scents, quotes and visuals; in a mini-workshop the audience can listen to smells and move to them or talk to us about smells, migration, racism and coexistence.
